We are currently recruiting for Playworkers
Job Title: Playworker Location: ME5
Salary: Dep on age, experience and qualifications
Job Type: Part-Time – 16 1/4 hours basic per week term-time
Monday – Friday 2.45pm – 6pm (with potential for extra hours working breakfast/holiday clubs)

Job summary: Assist with day-to-day activities of the club and to provide quality play/care within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures.
Working relationships: Children attending the club and their parents/carers, Management and staff, including students and volunteers, Childcare and play organisations, schools, registering authorities and funding bodies.
Main duties include:
* Assist with planning, preparing, and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment
* Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from classes and delivering them safely to parents or carers
* Setting up and clearing away tables, as well as play equipment before and after sessions
* Providing refreshments/snacks and ensuring that hygiene, health, and safety standards are met
* Administering first aid when necessary (depending on training – which may be provided)
* Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities
* Helping with club administration, where necessary (signing children in/out etc.)
* Encouraging parental involvement in the club
* Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, schools and childcare and play related agencies
* Undertaking appropriate and relevant training, continuing professional development offered by Stay & Play
* Keeping the work environment healthy, safe, and secure
* Taking responsibility for own Health & Safety and minimising own risks
* Working within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures
Person specification – Essential qualities
* Ability to provide and facilitate safe and creative play
* Good communication skills
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Able to work as part of a team
* Sound judgement and common sense
* Willingness to work hard
Desirable qualities
* Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds
* Experience of working within a play-based setting
* Understanding the varied needs of children and their families
* Understanding the issues of equal opportunities
* Experience of administration
* Competent in using IT to support play and club administration
* Relevant play work qualification or willingness to work towards this
* Appropriate child protection training
* Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate
* Food Hygiene Certificate
* Portable DBS Certificate
